Top five examples of incidents where enforcement officers had been at the receiving end of abuse by members of the public and one of them that shocked us was by a 79 Year Old man.
Incident 1 : Vulgar language used by 35 year old man and his 33 year old female companion on enforcement officers when sit on a crossed out seat at hawker centre. If found guilty, they can be fined $5000/- and jailed up to 12 months or both.
Incident 2 : Slapped an enforcement officer who had asked for a 72 year old man’s particular at a hawker centre
Incident 3 : Head-butted an enforcement officer when playing basketball by a 40 year old man at multi purpose hall
Incident 4 : Punched an enforcement officer who had advised him to wear his mask properly by a 79 year old man at Havelock Road
Incident 5 : Insulted a police officer for issuing a fine for not wearing mask by a 37 year old man at Cathay shopping mall
Police investigations are ongoing against the offenders of voluntarily causing hurt or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty, they can be jailed and fined. The police reminded the public that it is an offence not to furnish their personal particulars and home addresses when requested by an enforcement officer.
