Breaking News! Enforcement officers spotted at Turf City.

Since 2nd Of April, when Singapore’s circuit breaker measures kicked in, law enforcement agencies have conducted daily surveillance of more than 15,200 businesses. These include shops, restaurants and tourism-related establishments, and most have been compliant.

Authorities tightened circuit breaker measures further on Saturday, owners of work places that provided essential must take further steps to ensure they do not breach the measures. Owners of essential services must make sure that there are safe distancing measures in place to ensure proper safe distancing among customers. They must also make sure that those on duty to wear a mask at all times. Owners must ensure that their staff have as little interaction with customers as possible and video calling or tele calling are encouraged where possible. They are also to ensure that staff work on a staggered schedule meaning that they do not come to work and leave at the same time.

Days earlier, enforcement officers were seen at the popular Grand Stand or formerly known as Turf City situated at Bukit Timah area where over 100 car dealers are operating there, to make sure that non essential services like buying and selling cars companies are closed. They also checked on car rental companies which remain open as they are essential services to see if safe distancing measures were in place at their premises. Those that opened were complaint and did not breach the safe distancing measures.

“Establishments that breached the safe distancing measures can be fined for $1000/-. As of 13th April 2020, 3 establishments including Putien, Jollibee and Komala’s Vege Mart were fined each $1000/- for breaching the safe distancing measures despite earlier warnings. Establishments can even be asked to cease operation if they are found to continue breaching the measures. Stricter penalties will be imposed on businesses that breach safe distancing measures,” said ESG and STB.
